DESCRIPTION:London Phoenix Orchestra Autumn Concert 2024\nOur first concert of the new season sees the culmination of our very special Centenary Year out in style. Elgar’s First Symphony was described by the composer as written “with wide experience of human life\, a great charity\, and a massive hope in the future”. Its broad scope and wealth of tunes have established it as one of the great symphonies of the 20th century. \nWhile Walton’s Cello Concerto was written half a century later\, it is traditional enough that a critic commented “what dissonance there is would not alarm an elderly aunt!”. The orchestra is joined by brilliant young cellist\, Ben Tarlton.
