Following two major oil spills within weeks of each other in 1993 & 1994\, the 1999 “Safer Ships\, Cleaner Seas” recommendation by Lord Donaldson of Lymington was completed\, allowing SOSREP the authority to take control at salvage incidents where a threat of significant pollution\, could help reduce contamination to UK waters. \n \nAt this market briefing\, our guest speaker\, Stephan Hennig\, will chat with Alistair Johnston about his role as Secretary of State’s Representative (SOSREP) for Maritime Salvage & Intervention\, which oversees the response to accidents at sea.
