Commemorating International Women’s Day, we welcome Janet Ellis, MBE to this IUA market briefing, who will share highlights of her career from presenting Blue Peter, acting in cult TV shows: Dr Who and The Sweeney, to becoming an award winning author as well as her charity work and balancing a career and family.
Our guest speaker is well known as a presenter on the show where, for four years (1983-87), she did everything from jumping out of planes to singing at “Last Night of the Proms”.
Like the Blue Peter mantra, nothing in life is dull or uninteresting, Janet continues her career as a broadcaster on a huge range of programmes for the BBC including topics such as gardening cookery, cars and holidays. She has also taken part in ”The Million Pound Drop” for charity (with her daughter, singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor), “Just the Two of Us” where she partnered with R&B legend Alexander O’Neal and has supported PETA by being photographed naked for a magazine. All this, in addition to writing award-winning novels and receiving an MBE in 2016 for her services to theatre and charity.
We look forward to hearing from Janet on her career highlights, challenges, work/life balance and memorable events. In addition, the audience will be encouraged to participate in a Blue Peter Challenge, judged by Janet!
