DESCRIPTION:This market briefing will address the recent\, large scale\, changes to the UK and European (UAS) regulations that were introduced on 31 December 2020 and what they mean for airspace users. \nDescription\nBack in 2019\, following disruptions and threat to security at Gatwick and Heathrow airports\, drones hit the headlines resulting in the then-Prime Minister Theresa May’s call for consideration on stricter regulation and guidelines. \nSince that time\, the use of drones has continued to grow exponentially and the CAA has placed tighter restrictions to support their safe use\, including the need for users to register online and take a short test. \n \nThis online market briefing\, following up on our May 2019 introductory session with Gerry Corbett\, will centre on the recent fundamental changes to UK Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) regulations\, regulatory developments within Europe and provide some commentary on the wider impact of Brexit on the UAS landscape. Attendees will have the opportunity to pose questions to our speaker. \nSpeaker\nGerry Corbett\, UAS Policy (Operations)\, Unmanned Aircraft System Unit\, Safety and Airspace Regulation Group Civil Aviation Authority \nGerry Corbett joined the CAA’s Safety and Airspace Regulation Group in June 2012\, where his work is focussed on operational policy elements for all matters associated with the operation of Unmanned Aircraft Systems in UK airspace. \nHe also oversees the content of Civil Aviation Publication 722\, the primary guidance document for Unmanned Aircraft System Operations in UK Airspace.
