DESCRIPTION:At this IUA workshop\, our guest speakers will draw on their international claims and law enforcement experience and will include practical exercises and real-world examples of identifying and preventing fraud. It will be relevant on a cross-class basis. \nDescription\nThe cost-of-living crisis has increased the monetary pressure on businesses and households alike. With finances squeezed\, there could be a further increase of companies turning to insurance fraud to ease financial hardships. Such instances will result in a rise of theft\, sharp practices and increase in fraudulent insurance claims. \nFormer FBI Agent\, Michael Shulstad and colleagues Joe Aldous and Lumi Ishikawa from J.S. Held’s Forensic Accountancy and Global Investigations teams\, will present a hands-on workshop using their technical expertise and methodical analysis of financial and operating data. In addition\, their focus will include evaluating and identifying the real economic impact of insurance claims and damages. \nAgenda\n\nRecognise red flags in claims\nConduct effective interviews and spot the tell-tale signs of lying\nIdentify counterfeit documents\n\nThe workshop draws on the speakers’ international claims and law enforcement experience and will include practical exercises and real-world examples of identifying and preventing fraud.
