Understanding the complex landscape of American building codes will help insurance professionals make more timely and informed decisions. \nDescription\nThis presentation showcases a series of case studies that demonstrate common hurdles encountered with building officials and experts working for the insureds. \nOur presenter Ruchika Kaur will cover: \n\nA brief history of American codes\nCommon code issues\nActionable recommendations.\n\nRuchika Kaur is a forensic engineer in Thornton Tomasetti’s Western US Region. Her experience includes damage assessment of existing facilities\, remedial design for failed structures\, evaluation of construction defects\, and building envelope assessments. She has performed seismic assessments in Chile\, Mexico\, and New Zealand where she investigated hundreds of earthquake-damaged buildings.
